Cooper Drug is located at 509 State Street in Historic Downtown Augusta, Kansas. Upon purchasing Cooper Drug from John Cooper, Cletus Kappelmann expanded the pharmacy when he purchased the 511 State Street building, doubling the square footage of the store. Cooper Drug quickly became the center gathering spot for Downtown Augusta, primarily due to the friendly atmosphere and good eatin' in the diner that Cletus had opened in the back of the 511 building.
Since then, Brett Kappelmann, owner and pharmacist, has remodeled the interior of the store to better meet customers' needs. In addition to moving and expanding the pharmacy counter, Brett also has a coffee bar and extended gift area. Cooper Drug now has one of the largest lines of durable medical supplies in the area. Remodeling of Cooper Drug Store is now complete! The new store has a large selection of durable medical supplies, an extended pharmacy counter, new lines of merchandise including Kansas Grown products and a coffee bar.
