Elderberry Juice Concentrate is widely used to remedy a variety of ailments, including allergies, arthritis, asthma, colds & flu, constipation, diabetes, excema, and viral infections.  Over the past few years of practicing pharmacy, I am astonished at how many people depend on elderberry to help preserve their overall health.  That astonishment has led me to become a believer in the positive effects of elderberry.

Sambucus nigra, also known as elderberry, contains natural anti-inflammatories, antihistamines, antioxidants, bio-flavinoids with antiviral and antidiabetic properties, and a large amount of Vitamin C.  They are also mildly laxative, a diuretic, and diaphoretic.   A recent Norwegian study show the potential beneficial effect of elderberry treatment for the flu.  The study showed that using elderberry extract within 2 days of flu onset in otherwise healthy individuals reduced the duration of flu symptoms by 4 days!

I continue to hear success stories from customers who use elderberry juice concentrate.  I recall one customer once told me that since he began regularly taking elderberry, he has not had a cold for the last 3 years!  Of course this is just one instance; results will vary from one person to the next.

To finalize, I do not suggest using elderberry juice concentrate in place of prescriptions that you are currently taking without first talking to your doctor.  Elderberry juice concentrate is considered a food, not a drug.  No insurance company will cover it.  Think of it as similar to a juice concentrate that you would purchase at your local supermarket, but with an extra boost of special nutrients.
